Everything's Archie. Seriously, there were a real group called The Archies? I loved the comic, but i had no idea there were a band named after them. Maybe they did the music for the cartoon.
The song originally was intended to be recorded by the Monkees, but they refused and quit. Don Kirshner was their music supervisor and came up with the Archies concept to have full control of the songs and recordings. Yes, there was a studio Group, but Ron Dante did the Archies vocals. He would actually appear on variety shows to sing 'sugar sugar'.
I think we're missing an important point here: why is the one guy on the near left staring maniacally?
Is he a robot? Perhaps he has no idea how to dance even for a still photo. I fear he's going to stab someone, possibly because he heard that dang Sugar Sugar song and is close to snapping.
